What is Manga Memoirs?

2009 marks an exciting year for Canada-Japan bilateral relations. It is the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our two great countries. 2009 is also the year that His Imperial Majesty Akihito, the 125th Emperor of Japan, will travel to Canada for the first time in 55 years on an official state visit. There is much to celebrate in terms of shared history, economic cooperation and mutual cultural curiosity.

With such a symbolic year for Canada-Japan relations, Zeros 2 Heroes Media is hosting the web 2.0 initiative, Manga Memoirs, to celebrate the cross-connections between the two cultures. If you are of Canadian or Japanese descent, and have a tale of cross cultural experience to share, this site is for you.

Guided by the preferences of fans of the art form, the best of these submitted "memoirs" will be created as manga stories by professional artists via an online content collaboration system. Interested manga fans from around the world will watch these works come to life and enjoy the final stories when they are digitally published and distributed throughout Canada and Japan.

The first official Manga Memoirs anthology is complete! Read it today. We’re excited at the possibility of creating more memoirs with your personal stories. We keenly welcome you to join our social network and start participating in the creation of the next trans-Pacific manga.
