The Manga Memoirs Blogs!

Got something to say? Say it Loud!

<< BACK TO THE BLOGS

That's right! The first round of Manga Memoirs have been chosen, in part because of your votes and the know how of a cultural advisory board.

These 8 stories highlight moments, intersections between cultures. Some are funny, some are heartbreaking, but they've all resonated with the community.

Without further adieu! (in no particular order)

Exchange Students- jmcleod

Heaven Revolution - BigRed01

Kireji - crackwalker

Where We Meet - Tenzil Kem

Portrait Of A Small Town - whoisanybody

A Day To Remember - genrewriter

A Walk In The Park - BigRed01

Traveler - mariathedreamer

Take a moment to congratulate the winners! If you've not read their memoirs, please do, they're really good!

In the coming weeks, right here, you'll be seeing blogs from me, the Editor of Manga Memoirs. I'll be covering the books from start to finish, from my first chicken scratchy thumbnails---all the way to finished art.

It's going to be great!

@ PsElliott: I was really proud of your daughter and the effort she put forth. Make sure she knows that almost any writer worth their salt has had to accept plenty of rejection before they break on through. Not to say she was rejected: it's just that a jury found eight other stories better at this time. Tell her to keep on kepping on!!! I'm rooting for her!

@TK Thank you. She took her first rejection well. She was content with the fact that her story had more ratings than mine. lol. I had a question about the winners. The post here said " In no particular order" and I understand that as far as there was no first, second third place. But what order will the stories appear in the book ? I'd like to read through it in order.

I think we'd all like to know that! Patience, my young Palawan!

The order will probably be determined a little farther into the process. Taking into consideration subject matter, tone etc. The idea will be to create a balanced flow, the obvious one that I can note is BigRed01's stories, which feature some of the same characters in both books. That would create a nice visual and thematic bookend to the anthology. At this point it's all speculation on my part :)

TK- Do you mean Palawan the island or did Geko's "typo demon" get hold of you when you meant to say Padawan like a Jedi student?
